2022.03.22 Cultivars of Rice That Go Well with Harima

There are many cultivars of rice grown and cultivated in Harima. Some famous ones include Koshi Hikari. However, one farmer in Yumesaki states that his favorite rice cultivar is Hino Hikari. Koshi Hikari was a cultivar of rice originally from the colder Hokuriku region. He believes that the Hino Hikari variety of rice, originally from Kyushu, is better suited for the warm climate of Harima, with global warming taken into account. The farmer praises, “There are many farmers who have been growing it, and I’ve personally grown and eaten 50 to 60 varieties, and I have to say Hino Hikari tastes the best.”
